Located on the outskirts of Providence, Rhode Island, East Coast Distributors is a long-time distributor of fresh and frozen beef, pork, poultry, and related meat products. Acquired by CEO Geoff Tapper in 1988, East Coast Distributors is the culmination of Geoff's more than sixty years in the meat industry.
Geoff's entry into the food business goes back to his early years working as a youth in his parent's neighborhood markets. Upon graduation from high school and seeing an opportunity to sell provisions to local restaurants, Geoff began selling out of his van, and in 1967 Geoffrey Distributing was born.
From these humble beginnings, Geoffrey Distributing grew to over ninety employees, with four warehouses and a fleet of twenty trucks servicing clients throughout the northeastern United States. In 1985, Geoffrey Distributing was purchased by Roger Williams Food, a large regional Food Distributor that later became known as Supervalu.
After three years with Supervalu as Senior VP, Geoff was offered the opportunity to acquire East Coast Distributors, the trading company within Supervalu, and for the past 34 years, has positioned the company as a leader in the meat trading industry.
For over 50 years his simple philosophies of viewing each customer as an extension of his business and always providing the highest quality product at the absolute best value are principles that have made East Coast Distributors an industry leader.
